In collaboration with the High Commission of India in Cyprus, Home for Cooperation invites you to a very special day dedicated to India and its pluralistic essence.

In the exceptional, all-inclusive programme of the Day, you will find different cultural narrations of India reflecting its sui generis philosophy, cuisine, religion(s), music, art & craft.

With this design, the day will start with a two-hour yoga session with the instruction of Marina Mouyasi from Zogonos Holistic Centre. That will continue with the screening of three short documentaries:

#1 The Musalman: Preservation of a Dream (2011, India, 11 min)

The 'Musalman' is probably the only handwritten newspaper in the world. Tucked away in the serpentine alleys of Chennai, India, it is amazing how the Musalman Daily manages to survive in this fast changing world of modern technology.

#2 Mrinalini Sarabhai:The Artist and Her Art (2012, India, 52 min)

A documentary is on the works of eminent choreographer Mrinalini Sarabhai, and her contribution to dancing in India.

#3 Six Yards of Grace: The Handcrafted Indian Saree (2011, India, 23 min)

The film travels in time and to regions, tracing the lineage of some regional prototypes of the saree. It also raises concerns about the survival of traditional weaves by looking at the dwindling numbers of traditional weavers in the face of technological innovations and rapidly changing market preferences.

Then, Ravi Bangar- the Indian High Commissioner in Cyprus will honour the day with a talk on “Living in a multicultural World in the 21st Century – Breaking Barriers and Creating Hopes” and make interesting points.

After this inspirational talk, a concert of Indian classical music by two gifted musicians- Ravi Saundankar & Alkis Agathocleous will take you to a melodic journey.

Following that, Nikita Sirohi will offer a talk on 'The Illumined Spirit of Indian Cuisine '- An exquisite consummating offering to your spirit. Nikita Sirohi is an e-Entrepreneur, Writer, Guest Lecturer and will share her views on the Indian Cuisine beyond recipes; the philosophy behind the methods and ingredients which makes the cuisine a unique amalgamation of taste, health, spirituality and medicinal value.'

Indian Chef, Bintu Saini will make a food presentation to the guests and share his practical experience in addition to the philosophy & spirituality. You will have chance to learn how to make homemade Samosa as well as to taste the original mathris, namak pare and other delicacies.

During the day, worth-seeing photo-works of Benoy K. Behl will be exhibited at the Home and Henna & Kundalini Yoga Practitioner Erica Euripides will be applying henna to the guests upon request.

Join us at this event to remember and enrich it with your presence!
