Buffer Fringe Performing Arts Festival 2017 is open for applications.

Application period for Buffer Fringe Performing Arts Festival is open as of 10 March 2017. Buffer Fringe Festival is moving on to its fourth edition this November 2017 and is transforming and expanding to offer artists and audience alike a unique experience. Organized by the Home for Cooperation in and around the buffer zone in Nicosia, Cyprus, the festival itself overcomes physical and mental barriers.

We are looking for avant-garde work in all shapes and expressions of the performing arts. We want creative work that challenges the perceived limits of your art form; that overcomes wide held perceptions of the role of arts in society; that transforms and recreates itself to express what is urgent today.  We are looking for work that does not rely on language to communicate and artists who will stop at nothing to share their art.
 
Requirements for the performances:
 
  • Radical, ground-breaking work
  • Duration between 30 to 50 minutes
  • Minimal technical requirements
  • Include in the subject line the category you aply for and whether local or international
 
Buffer Fringe 2017 is offering a fee of up to €800,opportunity to meet other artists: see their work, share your experience over social and networking events and opportunity to expose your work to other international festival directors. Three among all participating performances, as selected by a committee of local and international performing arts professionals, will get the chance to tour around Cyprus as part of the “Buffer Fringe on Tour”.
 
 
 
Buffer Fringe Shorts 
 
Deadline - August 20, 2017
 
This year the festival is offering another platform called “Buffer Fringe Shorts” for performances that are groundbreaking and challenging limits in arts and society but are not fully ready yet. This is a new category in the festival for work that is between 10 to 15 minutes, with hardly any technical requirements that would greatly benefit from being tested in front of an audience. One performance in this category will be presented with a development award of €500 by the decision of the artistic committee.
 
 
Application Requirements:
 
The applicants should provide:
 
  • Link to the video of the full performance/rehearsal
  • A profile of artist or company (max. 500 words)
  • A description of the work to be performed (max. 500 words)
  • A technical rider
  • Include in the subject line the category you aply for whether local or international
