This year we hosted in Cyprus painter Chihiro Ito from Japan as part of a collaborative project with local musician Nihat Agdac. The result of their joint efforts was presented at Buffer Fringe Performing Arts and it was full of colour and music. Chihiro coming from a very different culture as well as a very different understanding of peace, he repeated various times that Japan has not seen a war or other conflict in decades, was able to get a closer look into what living and creating around a buffer zone means. His daily crossings of the dividing line, his encounters with barricades and barbed wire in an otherwise very diverse and colourful city in itself, made him want to create his own intervention.  The photo below describes his intervention.
